Leighton Alphanso Simpson was born on August 31, 1950 to Clarice Simpson and the late Oswald Fitzherber Simpson in St. Andrews Jamaica. He departed this life  on Monday May 17, 2010 at Calvary hospital in  Bronx, New York after a brief illness.

 

Leighton resided in Manhatten New York for many years and lived and worked in Coop City for eight years. He attended Calabar High School in Kingston Jamaica and completed two years at the College of Art, Science and Technology in Jamaica. He recieved numerous promotions to the level of Senior Vice President of Sales and marketing.

 

After the Black Friday fallout on Wall Street the company relocated and Leighton left corporate America to persue his life's purpose. His passionwas relized after accepting a position with the Riverbay Corporation in the Maintenance Department.

Leighton had the ability to relate to people on any levelwether it was politics, sports, current events, music, or culinary cusine. His genius without fanfare, always shined through.

Leighton was full of suprises as far as doing good deeds. He volunteered at the Tribeca Film Festival, and was a student at New York Culinary Institues. He took great pleasure in providing the best meals for friends, co-workers, hospital staff, family and the homeless. Always a giver, he displayed a generosity and concern for others.

Leighton was proceeded in death by his father, Oswald Simpson, grandparents,numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews. He is survived by his mother, Clarice Simpson; siblings Sonia Bandoo, Liz Morton (husband Gregory) Pastor Sandy Coleman (husband Ron) and Lorna Silverbush (husband Bob) and many nieces and nephews.
